Sound desk

Hi Guys.
Leo had the brilliant idea of moving the monitor amp (the old sound "desk") to the back of the church.
We didn't want you guys at church tomorrow night, so you can get rest for the following 4 days. If you can get out of it, please do.
Tomorrow night Leo n I will plug the cables he's going to get for us tomorrow in and continue testing all the levels.
I'm very excited about ministering with you all, it's going to be fantastic!
You are all fabulous!
Be blessed outa your socks!!!!!!

Cheers! ----Sent via my 8l@ck8erry----

Tuesday night sound check

Neglected to indicate what time; we meet at 7 tonight…

Cables & Tuesday night sound check

Hi Guys and Gals

Can we ask that each person take responsibility for the neatness of their own instrument’s cable, starting especially with the conference and going forward. This of course naturally includes untangling yours from others. Practically it obviously  implies, that after the service, we’ll invariably all be unravelling our cables.

Sorry if it sounds petty, but there’s no other logical way around this neatness issue any other wise.  There’s simply just no one else with the incentive to tidy up the cables we use. Let’s hold each other (of which I’m probably the biggest big culprit) responsible to this task.

Then, can we please  get together on Tuesday night for a sound check? Either way we’ll have to ensure all instruments we’ll use for the conference are there on Tuesday night. On this point please try to keep your volume levels on your own instruments constant, rather let us raise your stage/monitor volume from the sound desk than turning yourself up.

Anyhoo looking soooooooooooooo forward to our conference jams, it’s gonna be rocking!!!!

FW: [JWReminder] FW: One Day in the Gap

From: Bennie Mostert [mailto:bennie@benniemostert.com]
Sent: Thursday, August 11, 2011 2:57 PM

Dear Friends

It is quite obvious that we are not at a good place in South Africa right now. Internationally there is an upsurge of violence in the Middle East, North Africa and several nations in Europe. These are just a few. This violence can very easily erupt in South Africa.

The violence in Tunisia and England started with one "small" incident. All that is needed is one little match in our nation.

We need to raise a wall of prayer around this nation. Christians need to stand in the gap for this nation.

We are living in a serious time and as the church we have a responsibility. The problem is bigger than the political difficulties. We have major social and economic challenges. There are many strikes and labour unrest and we can add to the list.

Not of these things are humanly speaking solvable.

This is a call to ask the church to build a prayer wall around the nation, to stand in the gap for our nation. (Ezek.22:30)

Through the initiative called One Day in the Gap, we are calling on local churches to take at least one day in the next 12 months to stand in the gap for our nation – building a prayerwall, crying day and night to God to intervene. In Luke 18:7 Jesus says that if we pray day and night God will make what is wrong.

This initiative is from 1 September 2011 till 31 August 2012.

Let us join hands and lay hold of God in praying for His intervention. (Isa.64:7)

Please contact Jericho Walls to register a day. You can send an email to pray@jwipn.com or phone 012-3653213.

tongues and prophesy

To clear up my fumbling about my words last night; it really has to do with when I once asked anyone to share, what I’m actually after is something to encourage the team, since we all struggle with EXPRESSING our worship and are on a growth curve, learning how to corporately express our adoration (using song and music);

“He who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God:” à “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men” (1 Corinthians 14)

1.  edification

2.  exhortation

3.  and comfort

“what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching.”

What profits our team when I ask someone to share is;

1.    revelation

2.    knowledge

3.    prophesying

4.    or teaching

As we said tongues is for building up oneself, prophesy is for building up the church, specifically regarding worship; “…(THEY) …worship God and report that God is truly among you” (which comes by hearing prophesy).

Just to reiterate; openly (publicly) amongst us we share things the build-up/ strengthen/ encourage. Any problems or issues must be taken up directly with me.

Let us all continue to strive to intercede (praying the best change for someone based on a vision of what Christ intends for that person) for one another, that the body may be built up to lead God’s holy people in the precious praise He seeks of those who are called by His name. As we are changed we triumph over all issues supporting one another in peace and love.

Be blessed fellow saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

conference preps

We need to keep the change overs for yesterday’s set (Saturday morning of the conference) in mind for the conference there were 2 places (between the first 3 songs) where there was uncertainty as to who was starting the song.

Then remember that we ARE leading the worship for Saturday morning also. We know that Abrie, Fransie and Jeanette are working that morning, so Marko will be on bass and Iggy on drums.

Remember also the black backing for your files.

This Thursday we’ll do the conference set of Sunday the 28’th (so that there are not two Sundays in a row with the same songs – eish), i.e. this Sunday we do;

1.      I am free

2.      All because of Jesus

3.      My soul longs for You

4.      Worthy

Then next Thursday the 18’th we’ll do the youth service of the 27’th and the songs for Sunday the 21’st, i.e.;

1.      Rain Down

2.      I am free

3.      Where are the sons

4.      Fire

5.      Holy, Holy, Holy

I’m quite confident we’ll be ok, but please let me know if you’re still keen to go through everything again on Saturday the 20’th??? Else, let me know if you want a copy of the song structures as I have them (I wasn’t going to stick to it to strictly, but seeing as we now want to keep it shorter, I will have to).

Oasis Helderberg's version of 'Where are the sons'

Hi

Does anyone have that version of ‘Where are the sons’ that someone (Was it Willie or Willie’s cell or was it Johan?) here adapted the lyrics of?

If so, please send it to me… I’d like to have a look at it.

Tnx

Conference change

Hi yawl

We’ll also be doing the Saturday morning session at the conference anyway, it means that Marco will have to play bass and we won’t have Jeanette and Abrie with us. So, I’ll ask Stefan van der Merwe if he wouldn’t mind doing the sound desk on that Saturday morning, but I’ll confirm that with him.

Tonight’s songs will be used for that Saturday morning’s slot.

‘FIRE’ will no longer be our theme song since we wanted to shorted the worship duration in general.

If Marko can drum Saturday night, and Iggy Saturday morning & Sunday morning then I can lead those three session (we’ll test Marko J tonight to see how he’s doing, no pressure Marko! hehe).

Inge’s dance team is preparing a flag dance for Thursday night’s ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’.

FRIDAY  26  ‘Revelation song’ will be replaced with ‘Worthy’ & ‘Worthy’ left out of  THURSDAY 25; & hopefully the youth have stamina for one more song (albeit slow) on Saturday night.

THURSDAY 25 August (used for 24 July also)

1.       Sing, Sing, Sing

2.       All because of Jesus

3.       I have decided

4.       Fire

FRIDAY  26 August  (used for 31 July also)

1.      Rain down

2.      Sing my love

3.      My soul longs for You

4.      Worthy

SATURDAY 27  MORNING  (used for 7’th also)

1.      Sing my love

2.      Sing, Sing, Sing

3.      Where are the sons

4.      Holy, Holy, Holy

SATURDAY 27  EVENING  (used for 21’st of August also)

1.      Rain Down

2.      I am free

3.      Where are the sons

4.      Fire

5.      Holy, Holy, Holy

SUNDAY  28 August (used for 14 August also)

1.      I am free

2.      All because of Jesus

3.      My soul longs for You

4.      Worthy

NB: Let me know if you’re still keen to go through everything again on Saturday the 20’th???

Sixpence None The Richer - Breathe Your Name

Parts of this song was playing in my mind, intuition marvellously guided me to the artist on Google! Finally mental peace;

It's every day
I'm in this place
I feel this way
I feel the same
It's every day
I'm in this place
I feel this way
I feel the same

Is it all inside my head
Is it all inside my head
I'll view the list
And take my pick
I view my faith
And make a choice
'Cause it's nobody else's but mine

But you are in my heart
I can feel your beat
And you move my mind
From behind the wheel
When I lose control
I can only breathe your name
I can only breathe your name

So many days within this race
I need the truth
I need some grace
I need the path
To find my place
I need some truth
I need some grace
The part of you
That's part of me
We'll never die
We'll never leave
And it's nobody else's but mine

You are in my heart
I can feel your beat
And you move my mind
From behind the wheel
When I lose control
I can only breathe your name
I can only breathe your name

You'll view the list
And take your pick
You'll view my faith
And make a choice
'Cause it's nobody else's but yours

And you're in my heart
I can feel your beat
And you move my mind
From behind the wheel
When I lose control
I can only breathe your name

'Cause you're in my heart
I can feel your beat
And you move my mind
From behind the wheel
When I lose control
I can only breathe your name
I can only breathe your name
I can only breathe your name
I can only breathe your name

Conference songs + the next 4 weeks songs

The theme song will be “FIRE” (hence the 5’th song in each set) – but we’re still praying about that, since we don’t want the repetition to become monotonous, so that’s the only uncertainty I can see at this stage…

What we didn’t realise is that this basically means no one is off for the next 4 weeks, since we’re using the Thursdays and Sundays to “practice” the same sets for the conference.

The other thing is, since we’ve been rotating ourselves on the sound desk, we need someone else to do the sound desk. We will approach either Tiaan and/or Abrie for that (perhaps one night Tiaan one night Abrie? Etc. etc. )

Then, agreed with Iggy to have him join us in August again (in time, we thought, for the conference), but with this schedule we’ll have to ask Iggy to come back 2 weeks earlier to practice with us according to the rehearsal schedule.

THURSDAY 25 August (used for 24 July also)

1.       Sing, Sing, Sing

2.       All Becase of Jesus

3.       I have decided

4.       Fire

5.       Worthy

FRIDAY  26 August  (used for 31 July also)

1.      Rain down

2.      Sing my love

3.      My soul longs for You

4.      Revelation Song

5.      Fire

SATURDAY 27 August   (used for 7 August also)

1.      Sing my love

2.      Sing, Sing, Sing

3.      I am free

4.      Holy, Holy, Holy

5.      Fire

SUNDAY  28 August (used for 14 August also)

1.      I am free

2.      All because of Jesus

3.      My soul longs for You

4.      Worthy

5.       Fire

JUDAS ASPARAGUS

Judas Asparagus
A child was asked to write a book report on the entire Bible.
This is amazing and brought tears of laughter to my eyes.
I wonder how often we take for granted that children understand what we are teaching???
Through the eyes of a child:
The Children's Bible in a Nutshell
In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas.  The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.
Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.
Then God made the world.
He split the Adam and made Eve.  Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet..
Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from theGarden of Eden ..
Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.
Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.
Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.
One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham.  Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.
After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast.  Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.
Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston.  Moses led the Israel Lights out of  Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people.  These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti.  Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments.
These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.
Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.
One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies.  Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.
After Joshua came David.  He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot..  He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines.  My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.
After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets.
One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.  There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.
After the Old Testament came the New Testament.  Jesus is the star of The New.  He was born  in  Bethlehem  in a barn.  (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')
During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.
Jesus also had twelve opossums.
The worst one was Judas Asparagus.  Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him..
Jesus was a great man.  He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount.
But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot.  Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus.  He just washed his hands instead.
Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again.
He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum.  His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

You must share this delightful story!

Genesis & the big bang

"It was only @ the instant when God places in Adam this breath (in Hebrew the NESHAMAH), that both the created & Creator become inseparably linked. It was @ this juncture that 1 out of billions of possible clocks was irrevocably chosen"
"In the jargon of relativistic physics, it was @ the moment of Adam's appearance that the part of the universe where man dwells started to operate in the same space-time reference as its Creator. @ this point, the chronology of the Bible & the flow of time on Earth became 1 - the common space-time relation between God & man was now fixed" (G Schroeder - "Genesis & the Big Bang)
